Harvestchini

The blog is back! Sequoia and Sparrow have moved into their new home and the brand spankin' new internet service is up and running. Today's entry surveys the Sanchini adventure into the Tolay Fall Festival.


Behold Sequoia, queen of the hay stacks, and beware.


Baa, Neigh, Moo, and Yawn.


Sparrow comforts her father as he hides out in a handy redwood teepee, "Don't worry Dada. Not everyone is naturally photogenic in a cut out cow face."


Queen Sequoia begins amassing her fall militia, should anyone question her hay stack throne.


Sequoia manages the daily operations of royalty by dictating to her Court Jester/Veggie Scribe who records her wisdom in tuber stamp code, the native language of Haystackistan.

Safariquoia


"Abandon the feed bowl!" Gasps Cheetaquoia, "Our cage door be ajar."


Girafferick kneels penitently and offers eternal gratitude to Stretchius, great god of Long Necks.


Once outside the walls, Cheetaquoia relishes her freedom with a hearty stretch.


Cheetahquoia finds the cuisine sorely lacking.


Back in the zoo, Girafferick nudges towards the open door.


Cheetaquoia discourages mealtime disturbances.

Snakequoia


Dr. Dad shares occupational wisdom with Sequoia concerning the finer points of reptile anesthesia.


Sequoia returns the favor by educating father on the subtle joys of tongue flickering.

Lionquoia



Timbers tremble and hearts skip a beat when the mighty Lionquoia roars out "Simba was a spoiled freakin' brat"



"Hear yee, hear yee" intstructs Lionquoia to her faithful subject, "As king of the suburban jungle my rule is divine and absolute, as such I declare that henceforth the ultimate symbol of strength and power is a bright blue pacifier!"



Lionquoia gingerly places her royal stamp of approval upon the lens of her majesty's official photographer.



Lionquoia squats contentedly, wary and alert for the next inconvenience to ignite her royal fury.

Chickquoia


Sequoia giggles in the fluffy company of her wee flock as they congenially swap hatching tales.


Beauregard, a prematurely obstinant young cockeral, shocks the feathered crew by daring an excursion which measures several feet in distance.


The conformist galliform conglomerate rapidly follow Beauregard's lead, leaving Sequoia to ponder her newly solitary locale.


Opting for adventure, Sequoia crawls aboard the neonatal poultry pilgrimage.

skunkquoia



The Skunkquoia is a wiley creature of the forest who's overpowering odor is matched only by the mischief in her smirk.



The pungent Skunkquoia leaps into action capturing any poor soul who should wander her way. The disraught chubby fellow is no match for Skunkquoia's grapple action.



Later, when Skunkquoia's scent incapacitates the poor, plastic dude, Skunkquoia helpfully administers mouth to mouth resuscitation.



You can call Skunkquoia flower if you want to.

Seqouia and the Sloth abduction



A wayward prehistoric sloth envelops Sequoia and Stephanie in a gargantuan embrace.



Great Grandma Iris deftly holds the beast at bay while Dan blithely smiles unawares and Sequoia picks her nose in appreciation.

Pygmy Sequelephant



The Pygmy Sequelephant is a fickle and reclusive beast whose natural behavior vacillates from blythe tranquility to frantic fussing.


In its native habitat the Sequelephant glides elegantly grooming the tender shoots of the suburban grasslands.


Sensing nearby danger, the Sequelephant rapidly ambles throught the thickening underbrush.


The Sequelephant squirms uncomfortably as Stephanie of the Savanna is doubly attacked by the nostril-drawn Ticklegrass and the cerebrum sucking Airoctopus.

Moooooooo!



Sequoia basks in the contentment of her happy california cow comrades.



Sequoia is suddenly dumbfounded by the massive magnitude of the bovine bounty surrounding her.



Sequoia supports the dairy industry.



Calf with a Laugh

I once asked a calf
How to make half and half
But the calf said he didn't know how.
Milk and cream,
Said the calf with a laugh,
Come from my mom the cow.

Sequoia and the purple seabear search



Sequoia and her father gaze into the distance of a misty ocean afternoon in search of the legendary purple seabear.



Sequoia questions a stalwart wall of willful mussells. The bashful bivalves keep thier secrets but motion to the rocky shallows nearby.




Sequoia peers down at a rebellous anemone who boasts of once dating the purple seabear's elder sister. After exchanging unpleasantries the fractious filter feeder points Sequoia to a nearby outcropping.



Sequoia relentlessly relaxes in the seabear's native habitat perplexed at the complete lack of legendary purple beasts.



A smile of recognition bursts across Sequoia as she realizes Sequoia herself is expressing inner purple seabear.

Sequoia invades Richmond

In this entry our heroine explores the far reaches of the East Bay and finds another just as charming and chubby as herself.



Sequoia and Uncle Chris gleefully exchange pleasantries.



Auntie Amy basks in the glow of the double cuteness as Sequoia scratches her head and frets, "I do so wonder if that dashing puppy is more adorable than I."



Sequoia and her newfound companion "Tank the wonder hound" search far and wide for that nefarious beast the Fat Tire Feeler. Despite their sincere vigilance, Tank is grasped unawares.



After a thorough inspection Sequoia concludes, "I don't give a dangdiddilydingdangdong what your veterinarian says, you look right trim to me."



Sequoia and her illustrious uncle pause for a moment to compare head shapes and find a startling family resemblance.
